No 185.
Sir,

I have the honour to request, in accordance with Colonial Regulation 281, your approval of the expenditure of a sum of $14,887 in connection with the laying of a telephone cable between Causeway Bay and Shauki wan.
2.
No provision has been made for this work in the Estimates for 1935, but a sum of $50,000 appeared under Head 34 Sub-Head 32 of the 1934 Estimates, and the sum now applied for represents a revote of the unexpended balance of this vote.
3.
It was necessary to await completion of each
section of the new Causeway Bay Road before the cable could be laid in that section, and the work could not therefore be
completed in 1934. In the circumstances I propose, subject to the concurrence of the Finance Committee, to authorise this expenditure in anticipation of your approval.
PORN
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient, humble servant,
